Transfer admission guarantee, also known as the TAG Agreement, is an educational program that guarantees admission to students from community colleges to various colleges and universities.

The TAG reviews the records and academics of the students. It enables a guaranteed admission to the qualified motivated students a year before their actual transfer to the college/university. There are several guidelines that the student must meet to be eligible for the transfer admission guarantee. The eligible students receive all the academic notifications, their academic transcript, and records, along with a set of guidelines to be followed for their educational coursework early, mostly a year before the transfer.
For instance – The California TAG program started in the early 1980s. California community college students write the transfer admission guarantee agreement. The student must complete 60 transferable units for either the University of California (UC) or California State University (CSU) and have a GPA (Grade Point Average) of 3.4 at least. A considerable higher GPA is needed for major colleges and universities.
Currently, six UCs – UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Santa Cruz offer admissions to the eligible students (those who have completed the requisites mentioned above) from the community colleges in California. There is a TAG matrix that provides all the information regarding the program.
