The ASRB, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board, is an independent recruitment agency established on 1st November 1973. It was formed with the approval of the Cabinet in pursuit of implementing the recommendations by the Gajendragadkar Committee (a UGC-appointed committee). The ASRB is affiliated with the Department of Agricultural Research & Education (DARE), which comes under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India.
ASRB is mandated to recruit fit candidates for posts in the ARS, Agricultural Research Service, of ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research), and other such posts or services that the President, ICAR, may define from time to time. It is also to render additional such assistance to the Council in matters related to personnel, including promotions, as required by the President, ICAR.
Another significant responsibility of the ASRB is to conduct all-India competitive examinations, for instance, to recruit for entry-level positions for the ARS. In addition, the board also conducts the National Eligibility Test, ASRB NET, which is a prerequisite for getting initial recruitment as Assistant Professor or Lecturer in the State Agricultural Universities. It is a national-level exam that is conducted every year by the ASRB.

ASRB Recent Updates
- The board released a notification inviting candidates to apply for the post of ADGs/Directors/JDs. The portal will remain open for application submission from 25th November 2021 (10:00 AM) to 15th December 2021 (5:00 PM). Candidates can apply from here https://asrbapplication.in/.
- On 30th November 2021, the board also released an updated notification on the filling-up of Research Management Positions (RMPs) on a tenure basis at the ICAR institutes and ICAR headquarters in New Delhi. The update mentioned desirable qualifications for the post of Director, ICAR Directorate of Cashew Research, Puttur. The qualifications desired experience in improvement, production, processing, management, and value addition in cashew.
- On 12th November 2021, the board released an updated vacancy notification regarding the filling-up of Research Management Positions (RMPs) on a five-year tenure basis in different locations at ICAR Research Institute and ICAR headquarters in New Delhi. Two RMPs of Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR Headquarters, New Delhi, and Director, ICAR- Central Soil Salinity Research Institute, Karnal, have been kept on hold due to administrative reasons till further notice.
- On 5th November 2021, ASRB released a notification inviting online applications to fill up 90 Research Management Positions (RMPs) on a tenure basis for a period of five years at ICAR Research Institutes in different locations and ICAR headquarters in New Delhi. - On 27th October 2021, ASRB released the results of the combined examination for the National Eligibility Test (NET)- 2021, Agricultural Research Service (ARS)- 2021 (Preliminary), and Senior Technical Officer (STO) (T-6) on their official website. These exams were held from 23rd August 2021 to 27th August 2021 in online CBT mode across India.
- To view results of ASRB NET-202, candidates can visit https://online.cbexams.com/asrbnetarssto2021scorecard/default.aspx and check results by entering their Roll Number and the Date of Birth.
- To view the results of ARS Exam-2021 Prelims, candidates can visit https://online.cbexams.com/asrbnetarssto2021scorecard/default_ars.aspx and check results by entering their Roll Number and the Date of Birth.
ASRB NET Notification 2022
As of now, there is no official announcement on the ASRB website. However, a few estimated dates have emerged, which are discussed below.
- Availability of Application Form- April 05, 2022
- Last Dates for Submission of Application Form & Last Date for Payments- 10th of May 2022
- Availability of Admission Certificate/Admit Card – June 2022 (15 days before the exam)
- Date of Examination- June/July 2022
- Result announcement – October 2022 (tentative)
