The National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF Full Form) is a nationally integrated education and competency-based framework that enables individuals to achieve desired competency levels. The National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) categorizes qualifications based on a set of knowledge, skills, and aptitude levels. These levels, which are numbered one through ten, are defined in terms of learning outcomes that the learner must have regardless of whether they were obtained through formal, non-formal, or informal learning. As a result, it is a nationally integrated education and competency-based skill and quality assurance framework that will provide multiple horizontal and vertical pathways, including vocational education, vocational training, general education, and technical education, thus connecting one level of learning to another higher level.
Taking note of the need for skill development among students, the Government of India launched the National Vocational Education Qualification Framework (NVEQF), which was later assimilated into the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF Full Form). In response to industry needs, various Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) are developing Qualification Packs (QPs), National Occupational Standards (NOSs), and assessment mechanisms in their respective domains.
Skills and knowledge are the driving forces behind any country’s economic growth and social development. Currently, the country is experiencing a demand-supply mismatch, with the economy requiring more skilled workers than are available. Knowledge and skills are required for various forms of employment in the higher education sphere, including education, healthcare manufacturing, and other services.
Potentially, the target group for skill development includes all workers, including those entering the labor force for the first time, those working in the organized sector, and those working in the unorganized sector.
