Artificial Intelligence is something that is a hot topic of discussion, from innovation expert and richest man in the world Elon Musk to prominent scientists warning us of its potentially harmful effects. However, this does not take away from the fact that artificial intelligence is an extremely powerful tool that is being used extensively, and will continue to evolve.
Learning artificial intelligence is crucial in today’s academic environment because it opens up a lot of opportunities for growth today. This can be done early on with students with an introductory artificial intelligence PPT, but it will take a lot more time and energy to learn about the several branches and sub-divisions of the field.
Artificial intelligence helps computers and other calculative machines to mimic the decision-making and problem-solving capabilities of the human mind. It refers to the science and engineering of making machines intelligent, especially computer programs. AI is similar to the task of using computers for understanding human intelligence, but it does not have to confine itself to methods that are biologically observable.
AI can be classified broadly into 2 types:
Weak AI, also called Narrow AI, is AI that is trained and focused to perform certain specific tasks. Weak AI drives almost all the AI that surrounds us today. For example, Siri, Alexa, IBM Watson, Google Assistant, autonomous vehicles, etc.
Strong AI, or general AI, is a theoretical form of artificial intelligence where a machine would have an intelligence equal to humans; be self-aware, and have the ability to solve issues, learn, and plan for the future. We do not have any working strong AI as of now, but it is what Elon Musk other prominent thinkers of our generation predict. An example of this would be TARS from the movie Interstellar, HAL from the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey, etc.
