The backward mapping based courses focus on more practical knowledge and skills instead of theory (assignments). Backward mapping is a proven learning method that helps students excel in their careers better than traditional learning methods. Academic affairs ensure to include backward mapping in the classroom to enhance the academic performance of students.
There are three stages of backward mapping teaching skills – the main subject, the syllabus design process on how to teach the students, and the plan structure to better understand the subject. Including backward planning in the lesson plan helps both teachers and students alike.
For example, in Science class, the teacher will conduct the chemistry class in the laboratory by providing the students chemical name – Acetic Acid. The students need to prepare Acetic Acid by mixing the different compounds. The teacher will then introduce students to the various chemicals, their names, and reactions, and ask them to start the process. Instead of teaching them basic theory about the material/chemicals, the teacher makes the student familiar with the topic directly.
It can be called as a practical foirst approach and has proved to be beneficial in making the students understand the concepts in a better manner.
