GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering. It is a standardized test that is conducted at a national level in India. Qualifying for the GATE exam is a necessary requirement for engineering graduates who want to take admissions and/or apply for financial assistance to the Postgraduate Programs like Masters for example.

It is jointly conducted in eight zones across India. There is no upper age limit for the GATE exam takers. The 2022 exam will be having two more papers, Marine Engineering & Naval Architecture as one of the papers, and Geomatics Engineering. Hence, there will be 29 papers for the 2022 Examination instead of the old 27 papers.
The exam score one receives is valid for a time period of 3 years for joining a postgraduate program from the date of release of the exam result.
Being a national-level exam, GATE requires a lot of preparation and hence aspirants must be well versed with the exam pattern and analyze syllabus.
The exam duration is three hours. There are a total of 65 questions. The types of questions in the exam paper are Multiple Choice Questions, Multiple Select Questions, and Numerical Answer Type Questions.
