The process of admissions to Government Funded Technical Institutes is similar to the admission process of IITs and NITs. The JoSAA, which is the Joint Seat Allocation Authority, is responsible for conducting the examinations under GFTIs. The seat allocation is subject to merit.
Before 2016, both class 12th scores, as well as JEE scores, were considered for admissions. Post-2017, class 12th exam results are not considered for admissions to these institutes.
All the Government Funded Technical Institutes in India have to participate in the Joint Seat Allocation Authority – JoSAA process which is primarily conducted for the candidates who have qualified the JEE Main exam. Candidates should keep in mind that the number of seats offered by each of these institutes in India is different and also varies from category to category.
Government-funded Technical Institute colleges under JEE Mains offer a total of 6,078 seats for admission of students to BTech and BArch courses.
