NABL Full Form – National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories
The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories, abbreviated to NABL provides accreditation to the Conformity Assessment Bodies in India. The schemes that NABL has included:
- Accreditation (Recognition) of Technical competence of testing
- Calibration
- Medical testing laboratories
- Proficiency testing providers (PTP)
- Reference Material Producers (RMP)
It has a specific scope and follows the following standards:
- ISO/IEC 17025
- ISO 15189
- ISO/IEC 17043
- ISO 17034:2016
It has a Mutual Recognition Arrangement with the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC). NABL is a constituent body of the Quality Council of India, an autonomous body that is set up by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

Additionally, NABL offers accreditation for Reference Material producers and Proficiency testing providers for which it has ILAC MRA and APAC.
