The Board of School Education, Haryana (BSEH) conducts the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) to determine if candidates possess the essential skills and abilities to teach in any school authorized by the Haryana Department of School Education. Based on the eligibility or requirements required, the candidate can register for one or all of the following levels:
- Level 1: Primary Teacher Level (PRT): For teaching grades 1 to 5
- Level 2: Trained Graduate Teacher Level (TGT): For teaching grades 6 to 8
- Level 3: Post Graduate Teacher Level (PGT): For teaching grades 11 to 12
Candidates who pass the written test will receive a TET (Teacher Ability Test) certificate, which is good for seven years. The HTET exam certificate used to be valid for five years. The change was made in response to a recent amendment by the Haryana state government.
Eligibility:
Candidates who plan to take the HTET exam and obtain a Teacher Eligibility Certificate must first determine if they meet the HTET application eligibility requirements. Candidates must be between 18-38 years to apply for the HTET exam. Candidates can take the exam as many times as they want in order to pass it. Candidates must, however, have a suitable educational qualification with a minimum of 50% passing marks to be eligible for the same. If an ineligible candidate sits for the exam, his or her candidature will be revoked at any point. He or she will also be barred from taking any future exams.
HTET Application Eligibility Criteria for Level 1: Primary Teacher
Following are the two criteria to be eligible for the HTET Application for level 1:
- Passing Matriculation:
Matric passed in Hindi / Sanskrit OR Senior Secondary / Graduation / Post Graduation with Hindi
- Senior Secondary degree with 50% score and 2 years Diploma degree in Elementary Education
OR
Senior Secondary with 45% marks and 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education (NCTE Regulation, 2002 notified on August 31, 2010.)
OR
Senior Secondary with 50% marks with 4 years B.El.ED.
OR
Graduate with Diploma in Elementary Education
HTET Application Eligibility Criteria for Level 2: Trained Graduate Teacher
According to their respective disciplines, the candidate must meet one of the eligibility standards listed below. However, the eligibility criteria differ depending on which subjects the candidate selects on the application form.
- Social Studies:
Condition 1: If a candidate holds a B.A. or B.Com. degree in addition to English, they should have:
The combination of two subjects with 50% marks in the combination of History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, and Psychology.
AND
B.A / B.Com degree and Diploma degree of 2 years in Elementary Education
OR
B.A / B.Com degree with 50% marks and B.Ed degree
OR
B.A / B.Com degree with at least 45% marks and B.Ed degree
OR
Senior Secondary degree with minimum 50% marks and 4 years degree of B.A / B.Com
OR
B.A / B.Com degree with 50% marks and B.Ed (Special Education) degree
Condition 2: The candidate must have a B.Ed degree with Social Studies as a teaching subject.
Condition 3: If a candidate is qualified on the basis of Matric, he must pass Matric with Hindi or Sanskrit.
OR
Senior Secondary degree / Graduation degree / Post-graduation degree with Hindi
- Science:
Condition 1: If a candidate holds a B.Sc degree, then there should be a combination of three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Mathematics, and Zoology
AND
B.Sc. degree and Diploma degree of 2 years in Elementary Education

B.Sc. degree with 50% marks and B.Ed degree
OR
B.Sc. degree with 45% marks and B.Ed. degree
OR
Senior Secondary degree with 50% marks and 4 years B.El.Ed / B.Sc.ED. degree

Condition 2: The candidate must have a B.Ed degree with Science as a teaching subject.
Condition 3: Matric with Hindi or Sanskrit

10 + 2 degree / B.A. degree / M.A. degree with Hindi
- Mathematics
Condition 1: BA / B.Sc / B.Com degree with 50% marks in Mathematics and Diploma of 2 years in Elementary Education
OR
B.A / B.Sc. / B.Com degree with overall 50% marks, as well as in Mathematics, and B.Ed degree
OR
B.A / B.Sc degree with 45% marks, as well as 50% marks in Mathematics and B.Ed. degree
OR
Senior Secondary degree with 50% marks and 4 years degree of B.El.Ed / B.Sc.ED
OR
Senior Secondary degree with 50% marks and 4 years degree of B.A / B.Sc. / B.Com ED or B.A. Ed / B.Sc. Ed / B.Com Ed
OR
B.A / B.Sc. / B.Sc with 50% marks, as well as in Mathematics and B.Ed degree (Special Education)
Condition 2: The candidate must have a B.Ed degree with Mathematics as a teaching subject.
Condition 3: Matric with Hindi or Sanskrit

10 + 2 degree / B.A. degree / M.A. degree with Hindi
HTET Application Eligibility Criteria for Level 3: Post Graduate Teacher
Candidates must have a Matric with Hindi/Sanskrit or a Senior Secondary, Graduation, or Post-Graduation with Hindi, as well as a good academic record. The following are the supplementary PGT eligibility criteria for Haryana TET 2021:
- English, Geography, Hindi, Political Science, Sociology, Home Science, Psychology, Urdu, Punjabi, and History:
PG Degree in the given subject with 50% marks and B.Ed degree
- Sanskrit:
M.A Sanskrit degree / Acharya with 50% marks and B.Ed degree / Shiksha Shastri / Language Teachers Course / Oriental Training in Sanskrit
- Biology:
M.Sc. Zoology / Botany / Bioscience / Biochemistry / Genetics / Microbiology / Plant Physiology / Biotechnology / Life Sciences / Bioinformatics / Medical Biotechnology / Forensic Science / Microbial Biotechnology / Genomics degree with 50% marks and B.Ed degree
- Physics:
M.Sc. Physics / Applied Physics / Nuclear Physics / Electronics Physics degree with 50% and B.Ed. degree
- Chemistry:
M.Sc. Chemistry or Biochemistry degree with 50% marks and B.Ed degree
- Mathematics:
M.A / M.Sc. Math / Applied Mathematics with Mathematics degree at Graduation Level and 50% marks in B.Ed degree
- Commerce:
M.Com with Accounting / Cost Accounting / Financial Accounting degree with 50% marks and B.Ed degree
- Economics:
M.A Economics / Applied Economics / Business Economics degree with 50% and B.Ed degree
- Music or Fine Arts:
MA degree with 50% and B.Ed degree
- Computer Science:
