NHERC: The Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) was launched in 2014 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, with the goal of transforming state higher education institutions in India into centers of excellence. It is time to assess RUSA’s impact in order to celebrate its accomplishments and act in accordance with the lessons learned in order to reach even greater heights in the years ahead.
The National Higher Education Resource Centre (NHERC) is leading this collaborative effort of higher education stakeholders in India by translating it into systematic evidence-based research studies to generate knowledge and policy perspectives that cross traditional research boundaries. This would provide key leaders in higher education with practical insights and tools to guide policy in the sector toward excellence.
NHERC is developing systematic evidence-based research studies to generate knowledge and insights that will be used to inform higher education policy. Our interventions are designed to help higher education institutions pursue excellence and address fundamental issues concerning quality in teaching and learning outcomes, curriculum, research, and other areas.
Project objectives:
- To conduct policy-relevant research in the field of higher education in India, with a focus on the evaluation of RUSA implementation.
- To improve research and data in order to support evidence-based decision-making and policy in the field of higher education in India, particularly with regard to RUSA.
- To conduct research-based policy advocacy in order to strengthen the design and implementation of higher education policy in India, with a focus on RUSA.
