What is SET?
SET is a state level exam and it stands for State Level Eligibility test. The exam is considered beneficial for the students who are interested in the teaching profession. The exam is also considered wonderful for the people who are interested in improving the lives of people. After passing the exam, the aspiring candidates are given an eligibility certificate that authorizes them to work as instructors or professors, depending on the role. It’s an offline test that’s split into two sections. Candidates who pass the test are eligible to apply for a lecturer job with the SLET Commission’s Member-States. As previously stated, they will be given a pass certificate with an indefinite validity period.
Eligibility Criteria of SET
To know more about the eligibility criteria of the SET exam remains one of the major concerns of the students. Here is a detailed SET eligibility criteria to help the students in understanding the same better.
1- Master’s Degree- Applicants must hold a Master’s degree from a government-recognized university with a minimum grade of 55 percent to be eligible for the SET.
2- Nationality- Applicants must be Indian citizens to be considered for the Assistant Professor position. Candidates must also possess the required papers to demonstrate their residency.
3- Age Limit- There are no age restrictions on the SLET exam.
4- Number Of Attempts- The candidates are free to try as many times as you want.
5- Relaxation for Reserved Categories- Applicants from the OBC, SC, ST, PWD, or reserved categories must have a Master’s degree with a minimum of 50%.
6- Extra Points for PhD- Applicants who have acquired a Ph.D. and completed the Master’s level examination by September 19, 1991 (independent of the date of result publication) will receive a 5% aggregate mark relaxation.
7- Awaiting Master’s Degree- Candidates who have passed or are scheduled to take their Master’s degree final examinations and are awaiting the results can also apply for the SET exam.
The SET is a written test that consists of two papers. To be qualified, candidates must pass both tests. On both tests, only objective type, MCQ-based questions occur. Matching, assertion and reasoning, and True/False questions are some of the other sorts of inquiries. Both question papers have 150 questions and are worth 300 points. No points are deducted for incorrect answers, and all questions are worth two points. Both tests are completed in two sessions. The SET written test is divided into two sections, and candidates must take both Paper 1 and Paper 2 in order to pass. Paper 1 covers general topics, whereas Paper 2 focuses on the candidates’ core subject of choice.
