It is held by both the central and state governments to waitlist qualified teachers for schools and universities. TET has two papers, Paper 1 and 2. Those who wish to teach the primary classes (1-5) should clear Paper 1 and those who wish to teach the upper primary classes should clear both the papers.
Eligibility Criteria for TET
Paper I
- The applicant should have cleared the Senior Secondary examination (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or should be appearing for the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education
- The applicant should have cleared the Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or should be appearing for the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education.
- The applicant should have cleared the Senior Secondary examination (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or should be appearing for the final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
- The applicant should have graduated in any subject with at least 50% marks and have a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree.
- The applicant should have cleared the Senior Secondary examination (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or should be appearing for the final year of 2- year Diploma in Education
