SLET (State Level Eligibility Test) is a recruitment test conducted for the position of Assistant professor or lectureship. It is organized by SLET Commission Assam for the North Eastern Region. It is also known as Assam SET, and the name has also been modified to SET (State Eligibility Test). Currently, the member states are Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim, and Tripura.

To crack the SLET, aspiring candidates must be well aware of the SLET syllabus in order to prepare for the exam. Therefore, knowing the SLET syllabus and exam pattern in advance will help candidates strategically plan and study before the exam. SLET Syllabus (All Subjects)
The SLET is a written exam and consists of two papers. Candidates are required to pass both tests for qualification. Both tests have the objective type, MCQ-based questions only. The other questions can be matching type, Assertion and Reasoning type, and True or False type.
Both the question papers are of 300 marks collectively and have 150 questions. All the questions carry 2 marks weightage, and there is no negative marking. Both the tests are conducted in two separate sessions.

SLET Syllabus: Paper 1
Paper 1 of SLET carries 100 marks with 50 questions in a duration of one hour. It consists of general subjects that are aimed at assessing the teaching and research aptitude of the aspiring candidate.
The test is conducted to evaluate if the candidate has and exhibits cognitive abilities like analysis, comprehension, understanding the structure of arguments, distinguishing deductive and inductive reasoning, and more. The subjects of the test are as follows:

- Comprehension
- Divergent Thinking
- General Awareness
Note: As per the latest notification, there is no specific syllabus released by the Assam Commission for Paper 1.
SLET Syllabus: Paper 2
Paper 2 of SLET is subject-oriented and consists of the subjects chosen by the candidate. It carries 200 marks with 100 questions in a session of two hours. The conducting body releases the detailed syllabus of all the subjects on its official website. Candidates will be able to pass the test with flying colors by thoroughly going through the topics provided in the syllabus and preparing efficiently. A candidate can also directly visit the official website of ASCRDA and find the link to download the SLET syllabus on the homepage. A list of all the subjects will appear on the screen, and the syllabus PDF of each can be downloaded by clicking on the link.
Candidates in General Category must secure at least 40% aggregate marks from both the tests to qualify for the eligibility of the Assistant Professor post. And candidates in reserved categories must secure 35% aggregate marks from both the test for qualification.
The final merit list is released by the SLET Assam Commission on their official website after a few weeks of the exam. It is based on the results scored by the candidates in the exam. The selection of the candidates is then based on the merit list for the appointment of Assistant Professor positions.
