List any three features that help desert plants save water., To save water, desert plants have the following features:, They do not have any leaves or have very few of them., They store water in the stems, which become fleshy., Most plants have spines or thorns which further reduce loss of water., 3. Why do plants in swampy areas have breathing roots?, Swamps have sticky soil. It becomes very difficult for plants to grow here, because their roots cannot breathe. Hence the plants that grow in swampy, areas have breathing roots., 4. What are the different kinds of aquatic plants?, Aquatic plants are of three types:, Floating plants, Fixed plants, Underwater plants, 5. What are insectivorous plants? How does a Venus flytrap catch insects?, Plants that are carnivorous in nature and trap insects are called insectivorous, plants., Venus flytrap has leaves that are like boxes with hinges. They have stiff hairlike structures inside of the leaves. When an insect touches the hair, the leaf, snaps shut, trapping the creature inside., 6. Write a short note on useful plants., Plants are very useful to us:, Plant fibres such as cotton and jute are used to make clothes, carpets, and ropes., Coconut tree gives us coconut oil, coconut water as well as an edible, fruit., Trees are used to make paper and furniture., The juice of Acacia tree is used to make gum., Many plants such as eucalyptus( Nilgiri), tulsi, cinchona, and neem give, us important medicines., Henna leaves are used for decorating hands., Plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, which humans and, other animals need to breath.
