eV a:, , , , She, , Song of the Rain — Portrayal of the Heavenly Beauty of the Rain, , ‘Song of the Rain’ is a poem by Khalil Gibran, the famous Lebanese poet, describing the heavenly beauty, of the rain., , The rain looks like silver threads dropping from heaven. Once it reaches the ground, it is put to use by, Mother Nature in order to beautify the fields and valleys. The rain looks like the very pearls that make up the, crown of the goddess named Ishtar and the daughter of dawn plucks it to adore her garden. When the rain pours, down its tears bring laughter to the hills, its modesty brings joy to flowers and its bow brings delight to every, member of the natural world. Rain is a messenger between the field and the cloud, rain also provides relief to them, both individually. It quenches the thirst of the field, and he cures the cloud of its pregnant state by giving birth to, rain, Rain's arrival is always preceded by the sound of thunder and the rainbow warns of the time when rain will, be leaving. The life cycle of rain is as brief as that of human life. Human beings are born of the earth, and the rain, is born another of the elements ~— water. Similarly, both rain and human life cannot continue forever. The life of the, rain begins from the depth of the sea, then it is raised up into the air as vapour and moves along with the breeze., When it finds a field that need it, comes down and hugs every little flower and every leaf on the trees. Rain touches, the windows of every human household with its soft fingers, and their inhabitants are relieved at his coming. Every, man alive can hear the sound of rain, but only the emotional ones among them can appreciate the rain. The rain is, born from the hot air of the atmosphere, but it also gets rid of that warmth by its downpour. Rain then compares, this with the way in which woman takes her strength from man but then uses that strength to overpower the man., When the sea sighs and lets out its breath, the process of the birth of rain begins. Rain also gives the field a reason, to laugh, Lastly, rain is, in fact, the tears cried by the gods in heaven. In the last stanza, rain speaks as if it is, signing off a letter, It offers love along with the sighs of the sea, the laughter of the field and the tears of heaven, all, of which form essential parts of the human persons., , The poem is rich in imagery. The use of visual imagery is found through out the poem. Silver threads,, crown of Ishtar, rainbow and the like, Auditory and tactile imageries is seen in the lines ‘The voice of thunder, declares my arrival’ ‘I touch gently at the windows respectively, Rain is personified in this poem and is described as, something divine and characteristic of gods, The use alliteration, Assonance and Consonance add to the beauty of, the poem., , The use of metaphor and simile and allusion is also found in the poem. The line ‘I descend and embrace, the flowers and The trees in a million little ways,’ is an example of Hyperbole., , The tone and mood of the poem reflects the rain’s love for the earth. Gibran composed this poem as eulogy, (qs@omy ayo) in praise of rain. The poem is written in the first person, and the rain itself is the speaker and holds, , a mirror to its own identity and many activities, The poem appeals to every sensitive heart touched by the heavenly, beauty of the rains
